Causes of Fatigue

Fatigue is can express itself as physical or mental exhaustion, and it can make getting through your day debilitating. There are many potential causes of fatigue. Generally, fatigue is an indicator that something in your body is not working correctly or is being chronically stressed. One of the many causes of fatigue seen in our clinic is leaky gut syndrome. People with leaky gut syndrome have an intestinal lining that is overly permeable and allows toxins and other unwanted invaders to enter into the bloodstream. When the body constantly has to deal with removing toxins from the blood, energy that is typically used for other daily activities is used up, causing fatigue. Chronic stress is also a cause of fatigue. Often, we fail to recognize the stressors affecting our lives. Little stressors in everyday life- relationship issues, problems at work, raising teenagers, financial difficulties can all add up and take a toll on the body, causing us to exist in constant states of tension. Poor diet is also a common cause of fatigue. When vitamins and nutrients are not consumed in proper quantities, it can cause the body to have to work harder than normal, resulting in a feeling of constant fatigue. For patients with autoimmune disease, fatigue is often at top of their list of complaints. It is vital to find the underlying cause of your body’s attach on itself to alleviate chronic fatigue. Another cause of fatigue can be misalignment and abnormal motion the the bones at the top of your spine near your brainstem (your body’s master neurological control center). When this are is compromised, your, body's nerves and muscles must constantly correct and adjust to keep you functioning as best it can. This extra work is taxing on your entire system, and can be one of the causes of fatigue.
